Speaking of great theatre, today I caught Sarah Jones in her newest (Broadway-bound) show, Bridge and Tunnel at Berkeley Rep. Fantastic - engaging - humane - tender and illuminating, hoo boy. She is the new Anna Deveare Smith, or perhaps an incarnation of Lily Tomlin in her memorable solo performance era. Clearly a wise woman who is touched by people she meets - and through them, touches us. What she showed of 12 immigrants at a humble home-brew poetry slam actually made me feel proud of what America inspires (and when was the last time I felt that?). Definitely want to keep closer track of her.
Here's to the Nuyoricans from whence she came, too.
